Dirty

Jared's new word is "dirdee" and it's a good thing. He likes baths and gets excited when I ask him if he wants to take a batch. His response is "Baa? Baa?" He can't quite say "ba-th" yet.

So he's playing in the tub with the toys and I'm sitting at the doorway watching.
"Jared sit down."
"Jared, move over to that side."
"Jared stop splashing"
You get the idea.

Anyway at one point, he stands up and looks down at his hand and says "dir dee".
"You're in the tub, you can't be dirty," I tell him. I walked over to him to find brown poops all over in the tub. Some were floaties, some were sinkers.

CODE RED. CODE RED. CONTAMINATION LEVEL ALPHA.

Ug. A whole bunch of toys got tossed with that episode.

What could be worse? Last night Jared kept waking up and crying. Around midnight, I walked in to see if something was wrong. He wanted to get out of the room, but I just sat down in the rocking chair with him. He was content and peaceful, but not going to sleep. Finally, I just put him back into bed. He cried and cried and I had no idea why.

Around 2:30am, Emily went to get him because he was crying again and brought him down to our bed where he was quiet, although moving around a bit. Not long after I hear the familiar sound of a baby throwing up on the bed, on me, on Emily. Ew, ew, ew.

Another series of decontaminations.

Jared's doctor visit. Alex is too cool.

Jared had to go to the doctor as part of his normal checkup. Of course, they had to draw some blood and so I had to go to be the "bad guy" holding him while the technicians attempt to stick a needle into his arm. Suffice to say, it did not go well. While sitting, he had a needle poked in one arm and then another and not enough blood. They went to the bed to hold him down while Jared was being held down and they did not get much more. All this while Jared was screaming and fighting - he was mad. He did sleep well on the way home.

Jared understands how to say "no" now - he just shakes his head vigorously. He especially shakes his head to "Want to go to bed now?" He also enjoys the birds flying south for the winter. He would be content to standing on the road looking up at the birds flying overhead calling "bir.. bir.. " and pointing at them.

Alex on the other hand, insists on not wearing his jacket in the middle of winter. He came home without his jacket and was cold, but he would not admit it. In the summer he wants to wear long pants and in the winter he wants to wear shorts. Alex continues to be Jared's opposite. Alex wants to stay in while Jared want to go out. Alex will sit and draw while Jared wants to run back and forth and back and forth and ...

Alex spends a lot of time creating stuff from paper. He made a cell phone from paper the other day and always wants to give other people his creations - all wrapped up, of course.
