Alex buys his own dinner

Our kitchen is a mess (reconstruction) and we went out to dinner at Panera's. Alex had a lot of coins from Grandma and decided that he was going to buy his own dinner. He wanted a bagel with cream cheese and paid for it with a pile of coins. Mom was so proud her little son was buying his own dinner. Alex was pretty proud of himself too.

Alex has been maturing lately. Rather than be difficult much of the time, he's started helping out a bit. He helped me dig up the garden and didn't get in the way that much. He was genuinely trying to help out. We managed to dig up a couple of stumps and put in a small vegetable garden.

You snot

Jared's volcabulary has grown quite a bit. He likes to say "You snot" if you call him a little snot. He likes to call people from his crib. When he wakes up, we'll call us. "Mommy, come here!"

Tonight the little snot was watching Mom laying on the couch. When Mom got up to do some things, Jared went to sit on the couch in Mom's spot. (He seems to enjoy this.) However, mom was not coming back to the spot and was ruining Jared's little game. So he got up and went over about halfway between the couch and Mom and called her over. "Mommy, come here!" When Mom started walking over to him, he took off for the couch spot. Of course, I jumped onto the spot before he made it there and he giggled about it.

"Funny" is another word he uses when he wants to laugh about something. Usually, he did something wrong and wants to laugh about it. If we yell at him for something he's done wrong, he puts his hands in his face and looks down. It's hard not to laugh.

When we lock the car, he likes to hear the horn make the short beep sound to indicate that the car has been locked. "Mommy beep" is how it says it. If we forget to lock the car, he'll remind us by questioning "Mommy beep?"
