Jared learning language
I had cut up some tomato for Jared today but he didn't eat much of it so I decided to get a cookie and show it to him. Of course, he wanted some - "have some?" he said.
I told him that if he ate a pice of tomato, I'd give him a piece of cookie. He looked on it plate and picked up the smallest piece of tomato. I told him that he needed to eat a big piece. "Big piece?" he questioned me. He proceeded to pick up a big piece of tomato and eat it so I gave him a piece of the cookie. He chewed it and wanted another piece of cookie. I asked him, "What do you have to do to get another piece of cookie?" He thought about it and said "Eat another tomato?" We continued like this until the cookie was gone.
The other day Alex said that his name was doofus. Jared said his name was doofus too. I asked Jared if he was a big doofus. He thought for a second and said, "I am a little doofus."
Jared also likes to play this game of stealing your seat. If you are on the couch and get up for something, he zooms over to the spot and sits down. When you get back, he giggles about stealing your spot. I found that a fun deterrent is to go ahead and sit "in your spot" even if he's there, although he's started to enjoy that game.
